Be on the lookout:

  • Please review work inside white folders and return empty folders tomorrow. As a class we struggled greatly with determining the area and perimeter of objects because of READING carefully- not because of the ability to do those skills. Notice if you child can self correct these errors.
  • 3rd graders took the Math Checkins B this morning.
  • We take the Reading CheckinsB on Monday, March 2nd. Please ensure your child is here and on time that day! word-CheckIn
  • Mark your calendars- There is a teacher workday and no school for students on Tuesday, March 3rd.
  • Our field trip is around the corner to the Greensboro Science Museum. More details coming soon, but please plan to drop students to school on Thursday, March 19th between 7:45-8:00am. We will return between 3:00-3:30pm for regular dismissal.
  • Throughout the month of February our class will recognize the contributions of prominent Black Americans through stories, research, music, and art. Keep that conversation going at home asking them about who they learned about each day! This week we have already learned about Carter Woodson and The Greensboro Four.
  • Timed multiplication quizzes are underway. Your child has an icecream sundae sheet in their agenda to keep track of their successes with these 1 minute timed quizzes. There are 16 questions on each quiz and students pass with a 15/16 or better. If they do NOT pass, there will be a makeup opportunity each Friday during arrival. All quizzes will come home the day they are taken (planned for Mon and Wed) and will be located inside the plastic X sundae page. Please do what you can to help prepare your child for these fun and important assessments!

This week in Literacy:

In Module 3 we will focus on reading classic chapter books. As a class will will dive deep into Peter Pan by JM Barrie and use this text to explore text dependent questions, character traits, point of view, theme, and more! Please check for any classics you can get your hands on to share at home. A list of some great classics can be found here.
