Be on the Lookout for…
- This week we welcomed 3 new friends to our class. Hello to Aubrey, Thomas, and Valentina!
- Tuesday folders are coming home today. Work samples will make their way home every few weeks. Please take time to review your child’s work and discuss their successes and areas for improvement. I do NOT need these samples back. 2’s are not something to stress over, just simply look at what was missed and ask your child if they can self correct. They will get many opportunities to show mastery of standards prior to interim reports and report cards. word-growth
- Please ensure your child has a book tote for your their self selected books. Ask your child if you are unsure what type of bag this should be! They also should have their own set of HEADPHONES here at school.
- This year, our class is excited to read with Scholastic Book Clubs! It’s a great way to build up your child’s book collection at home and help them improve their reading skills. And when you shop with Clubs, your orders earn points I can redeem for books and other classroom supplies. Here’s how it works: I’ll send home notices like this throughout the year. If you decide to place an order, you can do that through our class ordering page. Your books will arrive at school about 10 days after I submit our classroom order. By teaming up with Scholastic, we’ll help your child become a more confident, independent reader—and we’ll build a classroom library all of my students are excited to explore!Order due date: TOMORROW 09/11/25

Happy reading! Mrs. Vaughan
Class code: GPPF6
This week in Literacy:
Students are nearly finished with beginning of year reading benchmarks, yay!
We are continuing our reading about overcoming learning challenges from around the world. So far we have been to Columbia, and Chad and Afghanistan! Our new reading curriculum is a big learning challenge in itself, but students are working hard to seek evidence to prove their thoughts and answers.
Thank you for ensuring your child reads at LEAST 10 minutes a day at home. You can write their minutes at the bottom of agendas next to the day of the week.
This week in Math:
We are continuing to connect repeated addition and patterns to open our minds to multiplication and division concepts. Memorization of facts is not the goal (YET…) rather, I want to ensure students know when and WHY multiplication should be used. There are tons of great resources for this skill- please check some out here in this amazing math review resource organized by skill.
This quarter in Social Studies:
Students will learn about the structure of local, state and national government. We will create a classroom government as well and vote on a variety of real and imagined scenarios. Take time to highlight government in action when you are utilizing libraries, parks, roads, and more!
