Be on the Lookout for…

  • Please look through Tuesday folders and return any necessary papers.
  • Students are being asked to bring a blanket or towel to use for outdoor reading as we attempt to build our reading stamina and soak up the sun this month. Please send one in to keep at school asap! 
  • Help, help!! Shortly after testing we plan to enjoy a week of carefree, no stress, fun events for the students but I need your help. Please visit this link to see what events we have on tap and how you can donate time or materials to make it a huge success!!
  • Reminder, our END OF THE YEAR CLASS PARTY is Friday, June 7th from 12:30-1:45. Be ready for indoor games, outdoor kickball, and back inside for 3rd grade trivia.
  • The reading EOG for 3rd graders is May 29th. The math EOG is May 30th. It is incredibly important that your child is here on time and well-rested for these exams. The school will provide a free breakfast to all testers on those days! word-15 days

This week in Literacy:

Students are heading into our last major unit of our reading for this year. Students will revisit the concept of government through 3 texts related to the subject. We will also spend a good deal of our reading and writing time beginning to review for the big ole test at the end of this month! I don’t want to overload anyone with copies and tasks, so Please email me to request any additional test materials you’d like to work on from home.

This week in Math:

We are reviewing ALL math concepts. Please utilize the Education Galaxy study plan and review areas you picked as goals from the Student Led conferences.

This quarter in science: Landforms and Water Features with Ms. Vaughan: every Mon and Tues 3.E.2.1 Compare Earth’s saltwater and freshwater features (including oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, and glaciers). 3.E.2.2 Compare Earth’s land features (including volcanoes, mountains, valleys, canyons, caverns, and islands) by using models, pictures, diagrams, and maps. Force and Motion with Ms. Fuenzalida: every Wed and Thurs 3.P.1 Understand motion and factors that affect motion.

This quarter in social studies: Students will learn about Civics and Government. Objectives for this quarter are:

3.C&G.1 Understand the development, structure and function of local government.
3.C&G.2 Understand how citizens participate in their communities.
