Be on the Lookout for…

  • Tuesday Folders will come home today but not with work samples. You will receive a full folder of work next week.

  • The Oakview Fun Run was today. Our class earned $90 per lap and will walk away earning over $2500 for our awesome school. We also beat all other 3rd grade classes in earnings which is always a fun bragging right 😉 Wow! Thank you parents for the efforts- you made such a difference!
  • Friday March 29th is  Teacher Work Day and there is no school for students.
  • 4th quarter begins Monday April 1st! Report cards will come home next Friday, April 5th. word-4th quarter

This week in Literacy:

We are coming to the end of our March Madness reading bracket. We have matched up 16 books we will read this month and will vote almost daily on Google Forms for which books we like best. It will come down to the Elite 8, then Final 4, then final 2 and eventually we will have a book champ!  This has been a fun tie in to the NCAA March madness basketball brackets some students opted in to. Students are wrapping up a reading skill called Notice and Note to make us deeper thinkers and overall better readers. We will read a different story each day and decide which notice and note skills we are using.

They are also turning their new country research into travel brochure, 3 paragraph essay, detailed beautiful picture page and eventually a part of a PUBLISHED book! More details on that to come. You are going to be amazed what your child can do!

This week in Math:

Multiplication quizzes will continue this week. Students have makeups and OPTIONAL mixed quizzes every Tuesday and Thursday for the rest of this month. Students who are happy with their progress on the mixed quizzes may stop unless they want to continue earning more toppings. PLEASE do what you can to help students learn these facts quickly. They are expected to answer 16 in a minute, or for mixed to continually make growth on their goal. Fluency is key!

Our celebratory Multiplication Master ice cream sundae party will be Friday, April 5th at 1:o0. Students will submit their “ticket” to see how many scoops and toppings they have earned over the past few months. Please see sign up genius link for ways you can make this party a huge success.

Students are finishing their Fractions unit. Lots of vocab is important in understanding this concept. Here is a parent guide for helping you and your student understand our main learning outcomes
