Be on the Lookout for…
- Tuesday folders came home today. Please look through work samples and return any necessary papers.
- Thank you to all who have signed up for Fall conferences. Parent teacher conferences will be conducted between Monday, November 7 and Friday, November 18. Please visit the signup genius page to book an appointment. These are 15 minute appointments with a small buffer time between, so please adhere to your time to prevent backup.
- We had a GREAT field trip to the IMAX today. Thank you to all who helped make it a success! WORD- hubble
- Next week is a short week, so we will only be here Monday and Tuesday 11/21 and 11/22.
This week in Literacy:
This week, we are reading the story “The Year of Miss. Agnes” to dive back into character development and ask and answer questions about literacy.
Students have completed their initial “100 Words You Need to Know” spelling activities. Spelling RETESTS will begin FRIDAY, December 2nd.
This week in Math:
Multiplication is here! Students are connecting addition, subtraction, multiplication and division through number lines, arrays, visual models, and more! Multiplication will be the MAJOR focus on 2nd quarter. Memorization of facts is not the goal (YET…) rather, I want to ensure students know when and WHY multiplication should be used. There are tons of great resources for this skill- please check some out here in this amazing math review resource organized by skill.
Concepts to review: place value, addition with regrouping, subtraction with borrowing, rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, quadrilateral, parallelogram, trapezoid, rectangle, square, rhombus, arrays, repeated addition, commutative property, number line, product
