  • Our field trip to the Durham Museum of Life and Science in this Friday, Nov 2nd. I have 4 children who paid for a lunch in advance, all others should pack a lunch that day! If you asked to be a chaperone, you should have received an information packet last in your child’s agenda. Please be sure you have been cleared through WCPSS and have paid your $10 chaperone fee. word-FieldTripFriday

  • Students will take NCCheckIn tests for math on Monday, Nov 5th. This will be our end of Q1 math test for all 3rd grade. Results will be shared with you.
  • There is a 2 hour delay for students on Election Day, Nov 6th. Students will eat at 12:35 in the classroom that day so no lunch bunch!
  • Report Cards will come home Friday, November 9th.
  • There will be a 3rd Grade Only Read To Achieve Informational mtg on Nov 13 8:15-8:45 in the media center. Feel free to attend if you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s RTA status.

This week in Literacy:

  • Students are wrapping up the 1st quarter or reading instruction and took their 1st quarter assessment on paper in the classroom today. Students should be using the PARTY strategy on passages, and should always underline the proof/evidence for their answers. Results from these assessments will be shared right after report cards.
  • Students brought home instructions for at at home alien project last week. They will conduct their writing and research components at school, but may do additional work at home if they desire. Aliens who can survive on their planet are due at school Wednesday, November 7.

This week in Math:

We are wrapping up our 1st quarter focus and taking our end of Addition/Subtraction and 2 step word problems test this week. Students will pick up multiplication next week where our focus will move past basic application and more into memorization and more complex problems.

I am noticing some major gaps in what students SHOULD know, so please look over assignments with them to ensure they understand. If frustration levels are reached, write me a note or send me an email. I want to address it asap!
