Be on the Lookout for…
- Folders will come home today with student work samples and field trip forms. Please review as able.
- Field trip forms are coming home today! We will be heading to the Greensboro Science Center on Friday, March 21st, 2025. Please read the information carefully and fill out ALL required paperwork (front and back) ASAP.
- Beginning this year, Wake County’s preferred method of payment is SchoolCash Online (wcpss.schoolcashonline.com) It only takes a few minutes to set up your account and you can quickly and safely pay for your student’s field trip online. No more need to send cash or checks to school anymore. All methods of payment are the same amount.
- We would love to have chaperones for this field trip. If you are interested, please message me on Talking Points OR write on the returned form expressing interest.
- Tickets are now available for this weekends showing of The Wild Robot! I purchased 2 tickets for this Sunday 10/27 at 3:15 at the AMC theatre here in Holly Springs. I’d love for all who can come to join! I’ll be coming straight from teaching a Halloween glow flow at my yoga studio, so I may be a few minutes behind, but let’s plan to take a group picture after the movie in the lobby.
- Upcoming teacher workdays are Fri, Nov 1st (Happy Diwali) , Tues Nov 11th (Happy Election Day) and Mon, Nov 11th (Happy Veterans Day). There is no school for students on those days.
- Thank you for all the donations for our class basket- I can’t wait to see you at the fall festival!
- 1st quarter report cards come home Friday, November 8th. I will hold parent teacher conferences that week. You can choose virtual or in person. Please sign up for those conferences here.
This week in Literacy:
Students will finalize their own reading challenges essay and create a keepsake bookmark.
We will also spend some time reflecting and reviewing The Wild Robot book we read aloud as a class. We will choose a new read aloud next week.
Thank you for ensuring your child reads at LEAST 10 minutes a day at home. You can write their minutes at the bottom of agendas next to the day of the week.
This week in Math:
- We are working in Unit 3, which is stories with Addition and Subtraction. This unit always proves to be tricky for students. Please view the parent guide to help you assist your child and understand the various addition and subtraction lingo. There are some cheat sheets in agendas. Please keep those in agendas so they can be used at school and at home during unit 3 which focuses on a variety of addition and subtraction of methods. We do teach regrouping as a strategy this year (yay, finally the way you learned growing up), but it is alongside the methods they have been taught previously to ensure core understanding. Some of these may NOT be familiar to you as parents so it is VERY important to use the example coming home from what students did that day. Some very helpful parent links to what we are doing can be found here: Place Value Addition Show All Totals/Partial Sums Addition on a # Line Place Value Subtraction Subtraction on a Number Line
This quarter in Science: We are studying the States of Matter and how states can change from one to another.
