  • Yesterday we celebrated all the hard work towards becoming multiplication masters. Although timed quizzes are over, students will be expected to maintain and utilize their fact fluency for the remainder of this year and in 4th grade. Thanks for helping to keep skills sharp.
  • NEXT WEEK!! On April 28th, Oakview will host the Spring Fling which BEGINS with the 3rd grade Food Truck Rodeo! If you have not already, please fill out this RSVP form ASAP! word-yummy
  • I shared some news with the kids today that they may want to discuss at home. It’s nothing sad, but I wanted them to hear my new news from me as word spreads fast in our caring community.
  • If your child earned a spot at our class Luau for Reading Across America, reminder that it is after school TOMORROW. Thank you for the RSVP, and please make sure you are on time for pick up.
  • As we approach EOG’s, I try to amp up the review with incentives and motivators. As you can imagine, this gets expensive. If you are able, I’d appreciate your support in supplying some needed materials and rewards to get us to the finish line.
  • Each week students will bring home three reading passages each week, due the following Friday. This gives students a full week to complete their work at a pace that fits your family’s schedule. The goal of completing three passages in ONE sitting is to help build reading stamina. On the actual EOG, students will need to maintain focus across six passages, making this an important step in preparation. When planning time at home, please choose a consistent block of about 1–1.5 hours where your child can work with minimal distractions. Students are expected to apply the PARTY strategy we have been practicing in class. A sample is included in their new tracker in their agenda. Each Friday morning during arrival, I will review and grade the passages so students can update their trackers, set goals, and celebrate their progress. While I encourage students to work as independently as possible, it is okay to step in if they become stuck or lose confidence. The goal is for them to build problem-solving skills, as they will complete the EOG independently.
