Be on the Lookout…
- Today students were treated to a Bharatanatyam Dance cultural arts performance. This is a style of dance originating in Southern India. Ask your child what they learned! Thank you PTA for this wonderful exposure.
- Next Tuesday April 9th. We will be visiting the Museum of Natural Science and Museum of History in downtown Raleigh. The bus leaves PROMPTLY at 9:30, so please make sure your child is in our room by 9:10 to allow time for bathroom breaks and transitioning. We also will not eat lunch until we return to school at 1:15, so please pack a hearty morning snack!
- Next Wed 4/10 is a Teacher Workday so there is no school for students.
- Next Thurs 4/11 is Field Day. More info on our schedule to come next week!
- Next Fri 4/12 our class will do a Taste Of North Carolina in conjunction with our economics unit in social studies. We will feature several NC entrepreneurs whose businesses grew to some of the largest in the country! To make this event a success, I need your help. - Mark your calendars! On April 23rd, Oakview will host the Spring Fling which features the 3rd grade Food Truck Rodeo! A lot more information to come on this exciting event, but please go ahead and block this early evening for the family to come support your child after school then maybe enjoy the spring fling.
This week in Literacy:
The week we wrap up Module 3 as students complete their play about Jane’s journey in Neverland. They will make popsicle puppets and record their performance! In Module 3 we will focus on reading classic chapter books. As a class will will dive deep into Peter Pan by JM Barrie and use this text to explore text dependent questions, character traits, point of view, theme, and more! Please check for any classics you can get your hands on to share at home. A list of some great classics can be found here.
This week in Math:
Students are wrapping up a lengthy, but exciting Fractions unit. Lots of vocab is important in understanding this concept. Here is a parent guide for helping you and your student understand our main learning outcomes

This week in Social Studies:
