Be on the Lookout for…
- Tuesday Folders will come home today, but no more student work samples will come home until the last few weeks of school. Students need to hold onto samples to prepare for student led conferences (coming towards the end of May). If you need to see any specific work samples in that time, you are welcome to swing by and have a look!
- Please mark your calendars, student led parent-teacher conferences will be held the week of May 21-25th. Students will spend time reflecting on their work from the whole year, goal setting for EOG’s and 4th grade, and sharing some of their favorite pieces. Please plan for at least 1 parent to attend, free of siblings if possible so the focus can remain on your 3rd grader. Sign up slots are listed here. Please RSVP 🙂
- On April 20th at 2:45, we will celebrate all EIGHT of our April birthdays together. A dojo post went out for any parents with students who will be celebrated to provide some sort of piece of the puzzle to make this a special day. If your child has an April birthday and you did not see this post, please check your Class Story or message me for more info.
- Join your Oakview friends and your favorite 3rd grade teacher at CarnivOWL on Friday, April 26th from 6-8:30 here at school.
This week in Literacy:
Students read the historical fiction text “Back of the Bus” and next week will be working through “Brave Girl” as we look at how character actions define them and change the course of the story. Both stories connect to social studies topics we have researched this year, Civil Rights and Immigration!
We are also doing some fun and informative Lorax-themed reading and activities which connect to our plants unit and Earth Day. During The Lorax movie Friday, we will enjoy eating dirt– a delicious treat resembling humus that worms would love to live in 🙂 This will be Mrs. Vaughan’s way of celebrating all those April bday kids too! If your child canNOT watch this movie or eat this treat, please let me know so I can make other arrangements for them. word-humus
